조해나  HAENA CHO (b. 1988)

서울시립대학교 환경조각학과 학사 및 석사를 졸업했으며 개인전으로는 《Turbulence》 (금호미술관, 2022), 《Vertigo》 (d/p, 2021), 《유사위성》 (OCI미술관, 2020), 《궤도공명》 (팔레드서울, 2016), 《타원궤도》 (갤러리 정미소, 2016), 주요 단체전으로는 《In The Mirrors of Planets》 (사쿠라 갤러리, 나고야/일본, 2023), 《APAPS 안양공공예술프로젝트》 (2019), 《Nomad Air》 (오슬로/노르웨이, 2017), 《Sea Gate》 (Pier2 Art Center, 가오슝/대만, 2015) 등이 있다.

Haena Cho’s kinetic art explores movement by physically sculpting and transforming objects. The unintentional movement that occurs in the process of casting machines and video screens renders the surrounding a dynamic space. The artist attempts to show that her work is not merely an ‘object’, but an ‘organism’ interacting in time and space and to break away from the convention of treating mediums.

Cho earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Environmental Sculpture at University of Seoul. Her solo exhibitions include “Turbulence (2022)” at Kumho Museum, “Vertigo (2021)” at d/p, “Semi-satellite (2020)” at OCI Museum, “Escape Velocity (2017)” at Space9, “Orbital Resonance (2016)” at Palais De Seoul, “Elliptical Orbit (2016)” at Art Space Jungmiso. She participated in many group exhibitions and projects including “In The Mirrors of Planets (2023)” at Sakura Gallery, Nagoya, Japan, “APAP6 (2019)” at Anyang Public Art Project, “Nomad Air (2017)” in Oslo, Norway, “Sea Gate (2015)” at Pier2 Art Center, Kaosiung, Taiwan, etc.
